Writing Studies, Composition, and Rhetoric Journals and Organizations
CWPA keeps a page linking to most of the major journals in writing studies. While these journals aren't specific to writing centers, they are full of relevant and related scholarly conversations.
WAC is a great resource for journals, e-books, and other resources related to writing across the curriculum. Grad students can join WAC GO, and you can learn about other organizations and conferences related to WAC. The IWAC conference is held biannually in June.
NCTE is the major professional organization for English teaching, with College English and College Composition and Communication being the two flagship journals for writing studies. The annual CCCC conference is held in late March / early April, and proposals for the following year are due in May.
Overlapping in focus but distinct from writing studies and composition organizations, RSA is for teachers and students of all kinds of rhetoric, with journals and an annual conference held in June.
This organization focuses on supporting written, oral, and multimodal communication for graduate and professional students, with an annual summer institute in June and resources for workshops and curriculum design for grad students.
This site is a bit different from the others on this page, but it is a great resource for help with research methods. If you're interested in trying out coding, discourse analysis, or other research methods; or if you want support in designing courses and workshop; or if you want resources to help in your consulting, you can find them here.
