  • WELLNESS CHALLENGES

    week one challenge

At home, I used to watch the sunrise almost every morning at the beach. Since being here, I missed it so this weekend, I went to watch the sunrise and practiced yoga with a friend at Red Rocks as a reset before my official second week at DU started.

    week two challenge

This was taken on a hike this weekend. I am a very active person, so prioritizing physical movement this week was my goal. I went on this hike and went to the gym every day.

    week three challenge

The sky was clear, so I chose to study where I had a view of the mountains. I had been doing homework exclusively in my dorm room until this point. I made it a point to find at least three new study spots this week that I can go back to in the future.

    week four challenge

This past weekend, I joined Gamma Phi Beta Sorority. I waffled a lot on whether I would join a sorority, but I decided to go through the rush process with an open mind. This week, I wanted to step outside of my comfort zone socially, and I definitely did that.

    week five challenge

I went up to the mountains for the weekend and watched the sunset. I haven't taken full advantage of the mountains being so close, so I made it a priority this week to get into the mountains.

    week six challenge

This weekend, I went to Breckenridge on a retreat with my sorority. My mom and cousin were supposed to visit me this weekend, but when I found out I had this retreat, they had to cancel their trip. I am very family-oriented and will always choose to see my family over almost anything, so I was really sad that they had to cancel their trip. My goal was to make the most of the trip and make some new friends which was successful.

    week seven challenge

This weekend, I was able to go to Philly to visit my mom, sister, and some extended family.

I am very close to my family, so this was a very nice reset and social break for me. My goal was to be completely present while I was with them, so I didn't miss a moment.

    week eight challenge

This week was all about trying new things, I took a new yoga class at a new studio and went to brunch with a friend I hadn't seen in a while at a restaurant neither of us had been to. It was nice to get off campus and try a new restaurant.

    week nine challenge

This week, I went to a concert that I bought tickets for since this past summer! This was a perfect coincidence because this week, my goal was to have a good work-fun balance. I am known for getting caught up in my routine of school and the gym that sometimes I forget to do things just for fun. This was a great escape from the chaos of school this week!

    week ten challenge

My goal this week was to go skiing before going home for break. Skiing is one of the reasons I chose to go to school here. I will be going home for break to Florida, so I won't have an opportunity to ski again until I am back for winter quarter. I went skiing for the first time this season on Monday of this week! It was so much fun to get to ski before I go on break. I went with my aunt and we brought our dog. It was a good way for me to check out and have fun before the stressful week of finals.
