• Sher Lab Research

  • The Sher lab investigates ecological questions within the field of applied plant sciences and conservation biology. We are concerned about the impact of human activity on our natural environment and generating information that assists land managers and conservationists. Past projects have focused on invasive species, restoration and climate change. We collect data on plant (and sometimes invertebrate) communities and their environments in the field, using lab and greenhouse experiments, geographic information systems (GIS), and surveys.  Our lab employs a variety of statistical tools to interpret large data sets, including multivariate statistics and spatial statistics; anyone joining the lab should have an interest in learning about and working with numbers and quantitative models. Members of the lab have also assisted Dr. Sher with writing textbooks, including An Introduction to Conservation Biology and Ecology: Concepts and Applications.
