  • Teaching Philosophy and Approach

Dr. He's pedagogy and philosophy are informed by adult learning theories, including transformational (e.g., developmental learning; Clark, 1993) and experiential (e.g., critical thinking and active experimentation; Kolb, 2014) frameworks. They are also a consolidation of her years as a clinician, impressions made by instructors who influenced her intellectual development, and personal narrative as a first-generation college student. Her approach to teaching, mentorship, and advisement draws from these theories and experiences and translates into three main components: (a) developmental life-long learning, (b) critical thinking, and (c) active experimentation.
