This is a faculty-led summer study abroad program designed for DU students that takes place during the month of August on the northern coast of Spain. Students take two 4-credit classes at a local university and live with Spanish families or on the university campus. The program takes place in the beautiful city of Santander and includes cultural trips to historic landmarks such as medieval towns, prehistoric caves and modern art museums.
Students’ proficiency level in Spanish must be above the SPAN 2003 level. Students who have not taken any Spanish language classes at DU should contact one of the program directors. The classes that students take abroad—a language class and a culture class—can count towards the major or minor in Spanish. Furthermore, the culture class can count as elective credits, as AI-Society credit or it can count towards the Intercultural Global Studies Minor.
