• Background

  • Hello there, my name is Corey and I am a second year doctoral student in the DU Department of Geography & the Environment. I also serve as a Community-Engaged Fellow in the DU Center for Community Engagement to advace Scholarship and Learning (CCESL). I grew up in Kansas City, studied at the University of Missouri, then worked in various places as an English Teacher, Substitute Teacher, Math Teacher, Camp Counselor, and Outdoor Educator. Through my early study and work experiences, I became interested in how people interact with their surrounding environment. Currently, my research interests focus on the meanings of nature that people connect with - and where. Moroever, I consider how story mapping can facilitate location-based storytelling about connections with nature.
