What inspired you to choose RMS as a field of study?

I realized that, ultimately, social science researchers need to be well versed in the methodologies of research rather than the specific content knowledge of a given discipline. With my interests falling across the social and life sciences, a methodological degree made the most sense.

    What are your research interests?

My research interests lie in measuring collegiate student achievement and performance. Specifically, I am currently working on measuring cultural competency, cultural intelligence, and cultural sensitivity in college-level anthropology courses.

What are your professional and/or academic goals?

I hope to become a tenure-track faculty member at a community college, regional comprehensive university, or other teaching university. I aim to bring advanced research methods to undergraduate courses, helping to further the passions of the next generation of professionals.

Please list any professional activities/organizations that you are involved in.

Professional Activities: Currently conducting a pilot study evaluating student cultural competency in community college anthropology courses; Member of editorial board and chapter author for the Society for Anthropology in Community Colleges’ open-source textbook for introductory archaeology courses; Assisting in Dr. Anderson’s work developing academic standards and evaluating externships for American Bar Association-accredited law schools; GTA for RMS 4900; Community College Anthropology instructor (CCAurora and RRCC)

Professional Organizations: American Educational Research Association, American Evaluation Association, Society for Applied Anthropology, Society of American Archaeology, American Association for the Advancement of Science, Society for Anthropology in Community Colleges, American Association of Physical Anthropologists, American Anthropological Association, National Organization of Gay and Lesbian Scientist and Technical Professionals, National Science Teachers Association, American Society of Primatologists Animal Behavior Society, Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development, International Society of Primatologists
