  • Introduction

  • Although I view myself as a generalist with multiple personal and professional interests, leadership and health and wellness are areas that have always been consistent in my life, and these interests guided my pathway into college. My upbringing instilled both health and education from an early age, and has carried through into my career aspirations. I was privileged to receive lots of support from family and mentors to get me to college, through athletics, honors classes, and peer influence. In 2016, I graduated from California State University, Monterey Bay with a BA in Psychology and a minor in Health & Wellness. My interest in pursuing a career in higher education and student affairs stemmed from my involvement with residence life, academic and career advising, and conference planning. Working with students and helping them navigate the complexities of this new phase of life was exciting and rewarding for me to be a part of. I found that student affairs offered infinite opportunities for event planning, mentoring, and education, so I was determined to make sure that my career directly worked with college students. After I graduated, I took a gap year while I applied for graduate schools, but still found ways to travel and engage in areas that I'm passionate about by working at a local gym and facilitating resume workshops at a non-profit center for women and children.

Now, I am a Masters in Higher Education Administration (referred to as HED) with an emphasis in College Student Affairs candidate at the University of Denver (DU), graduating in June 2019, and am proud to be one of the first in my family to obtain a MA degree. I work as a Graduate Student Life Fellow for Health Promotion and as a Graduate Assistant for Daniels Career Services, and throughout my experiences in graduate school, I found that my work as a graduate assistant aligned well with my passion for health and wellness as well as my strong interest in advising students. Once I graduate, I will start a full-time position as a Coordinator for Health Promotion at DU, where I will work with peer education and alcohol and other drugs initiatives.

    Welcome to my E-Portfolio!

  • Purpose and Overview of E-Portfolio

  • The purpose of this e-portfolio is to collect artifacts (papers, presentations, pictures, projects, etc.) that are representative of my learning as it pertains to the Master of Arts (MA) in Higher Education program's learning outcomes and my work experience at the University of Denver. Each page is organized by learning outcomes and includes a reflection for each artifact's connection to the outcome. More importantly, the contents of the e-portfolio resemble my growth, my ability to analyze and think critically, and reflect upon who I want to be and what values I want to embody as a student affairs practitioner. This culminating project to conclude my MA program has been insightful and moving, and I am proud of the work that I have compiled and chosen to showcase.
