  • Biographical Description

    • Paul Olk is a Professor of Management and the Assocate Dean for Faculty, Research and  Accreditation at the Daniels College of Business of the University of Denver. As Associate Dean, Paul oversees all matters in the College related to faculty, as well as its accreditation efforts, and its Masters of Science programs.  Paul has taught and consulted on a variety of management topics, and specializes in the formation, management and performance of strategic alliances.  The recipient of several teaching awards, his teaching interests include business strategy, strategic alliance management, business plans, and leading and managing across organizational boundaries.  He has taught executive education at several institutions including the National University of Singapore and has consulted on a variety of management topics to small and large companies and to projects funded by U.S. federal government agencies.

       

      Paul’s current research interests focus on performance evaluation of strategic alliances as well as the formation and management of high technology, entrepreneurial alliances.   He has received numerous grants to fund his research including the National Science Foundation, the Center for Innovation Management Studies, The Alliance Edge at Queen’s University.  

       

      Paul’s publications include two books and numerous articles that have appeared in several books and in a number of journals, including Organization Science, Strategic Management Journal, Academy of Management Learning and Education, and the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology.  He is a former division officer of the Technology and Innovation Management Division of the Academy of Management, served on the Executive Committee on the Knowledge and Innovation Management Division of the Strategic Management Society and is on the editorial review boards of Organization Science, IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management, Long Range Planning, and Journal of Management Inquiry.  He received his Ph.D. and M.A. from The Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania and a B.S. with Honors from the University of Wisconsin.  Previously he was on the faculty of the University of California, Irvine.
