    Established in 1997 in honor of Lawrence Miller, BS ’50, former chair of the Department of Psychology, this endowed fellowship supports graduate students in the Psychology Department. There are two types of support provided from this fund: (1) training/travel and (2) research/travel.

    1. Lawrence Miller Scholar: Graduate Training Fellowship

    With these funds, students attend workshops and institutes that will advance their training.

    Your application should include the following items:

    • A curriculum vita;
    • An itemized budget that may include airfare, ground transportation at the travel destination, hotel, registration/member fees, and/or meals. Please provide dates when training will occur;
    • A letter describing the institute/workshop and indicating how it will aid your education;
    • An email from your adviser to Paula confirming they have reviewed and support your application.
    • Other important information:
      • Awards will be decided on the basis of a student's record and the judged value of the training opportunity;
      • Decisions will be made by the Area Heads and the Department Chair;
      • There is a lifetime total limit of $1,500 per
      • Students must work with the Assistant to the Chair with travel and arrangements and accessing funds before the end date set for the award.

    1. Lawrence Miller Scholar: Graduate Research Support

    With these funds, students can carry out research activities, attend clinical trainings, and travel to conferences to make presentations that will advance their training.

    Your application must include the following items:

    • A curriculum vita;
    • An itemized budget that may include airfare, ground transportation, hotel, registration/member fees, and/or meals. Please provide dates when research activities or conference will occur;
    • A letter describing the research activity or conference presentation; and how the training will aid your education
    • An email from your adviser confirming they have reviewed and support your application.
    • Other important information:
      • Awards will be decided on the basis of the student’s record and the judged value of the training opportunity.
      • For conference presentations, applications are typically made after a presentation has been accepted. However, students may submit applications for presentations that have been submitted with a pending decision. Funding for pending presentations will be contingent on acceptance. In general, only one presenter per paper or poster is supported. Preference is given to first authors. Awards are generally around $200. For research support, please itemize the specific need and its cost. There is no lifetime cap for the total amount of support a student may receive through this award mechanism; however, previous support is taken into consideration when awarding funds.
  • Harry Gollob

    The Psychology Department presents the Harry Gollob Award to a current graduate student for the best first author publication. The chosen publication describes work done at the University of Denver and has either been published or in press in the past 2 years.

    The award is named after former faculty member and Department Chair Harry Gollob. As a statistician, Harry played a huge role in almost every graduate student's training here. The Department honors his memory by having this award for graduate students.

    To qualify for the award:

    • The student must be the first author.
    • The submission must be from a current graduate student.
    • The article must cover work done at DU.
    • The article must be published or in press during the past 2 years.
  • Inclusive Excellence in Research Award

    Established in 2011, the Inclusive Excellence in Research Award recognizes the best first-author paper that substantively discusses issues of inclusive excellence (broadly defined). Inclusion of a diverse sample alone (e.g., in the absence of substantive discussion of inclusive excellence issues) is not sufficient for this award.

      • To submit a paper for consideration, please send a PDF of the manuscript and a cover letter that states where the article is published to Paula.  Please use “IE Research Award” in the subject line of your email. The cover letter should briefly (1 paragraph) describe the paper’s contribution to issues of inclusive excellence; and, as is practice in many journals, describe your role in the conception and design of the study, the acquisition of data, the analysis and interpretation of data, and in drafting the article in terms of important intellectual content.
  • Inclusive Excellence Fellowship

    Students can apply for an inclusive excellence award ($4500 per year, for 2 years, 1- time award).
