Please see DU's Latin Honors policies as outlined in the bulletin for more information. It outlines that students qualify for a cum laude distinction with GPA alone, but magna and summa cum laude are jointly determined by GPA and also completion of a "thesis or project" in the student's major. In the Department of Psychology, we consider a variety of experiences as qualifying for Latin Honors:
- Distinction in the major
- Completion of research project funded by Partners in Scholarship (PINS)
- Completion of research project funded as a Summer Research Grant (SRG)
- Presenting a research poster or talk at a conference for a professional society
- Co-authoring a paper with a faculty member submitted to peer-reviewed journal
- Completion of Field Experiences in Psychology sequence (all 3 quarters)
- Completion of a microcredential in Psychology
ELIGIBILITY
Students enrolled in our Distinction (Honors Thesis) program need not take action to be designated for Latin Honors upon graduation. However, those who have completed one of the other qualifying experiences must fill and return to the Curriculum Chair of the Psychology Department this Latin Honors Qualification Form.pdf
