You can access our anonymous input survey here.
Conducting research under the supervision of a faculty member, and alongside current graduate students, enhances what you learn with real training and experiences with the science of psychology. This work can be an important asset when you begin applying for jobs and/or graduate school.
You can get involved in a lab by:
- earning up to 10-credit hours total of PSYC 2112 though an in-lab internship;
- volunteering in a lab;
- work-study opportunities, if this is part of your financial aid package;
- joining the Departmental Distinction Program, in which you will take advanced research methods and complete a senior thesis under the direction of a faculty member.
To find a lab or research group to get started with:
- Check out this list of labs organized by name
- Look for research assistant postings in Frontier and Nagel halls.
- Check the student employment site for work-study opportunities.
- Talk to an instructor about your interests.
- Email the faculty member who runs the lab to set up an appointment to talk about joining their lab.
- Indicate why you're interested in working with them, how many hours you're availble to work, whether you'd like to get course credit, be a student employee (requires federal work study award), or as a volunteer
- Attend Research Night (to be held virtually by Zoom on October 19, 2022)
If a faculty member agrees that you can work with them on research for course credit, please ask them for a registration override to sign up for their section of PSYC 2112. This course counts toward elective credits for the major or minor.
