Nicholas Heckart

  • Biographical Description

    • Welcome, and thank you for visiting my portfolio page! Currently, I work at DU for the Morgridge College of Education as a Program Assistant. I help support two programs, Library and Information Science and Quantitative Research Methods. I am responsible for supporting students and faculty, assisting with student recruitment and retention, maintaining the accuracy of program information, assisting with course scheduling, processing fiscal transactions, and supervising work-study students. I have also planned and hosted program events, proctored examinations, and served on search committees for both faculty and staff. I wear many hats and have a wide and ever developing range of responsibilities here at DU. However, my focus remains driven by the development and success of the students I support.

This passion is the main force behind my pursuit of a Master's of Arts degree in Higher Education. I am currently enrolled in the Leadership and Organizational Change for Professionals (LOCP) program. My interests involve at-risk students, the community college, access, diversity, and student retention. By participating in this program, I plan to refine and develop my professional skills in the field in hopes of someday becoming an academic advisor.

Before coming to the University of Denver, I received my BA and teacher licensure in art education from the University of Iowa. I also worked at Kirkwood Community College as an office assistant. For more information on my background, please see my resume on the right.
