  • My professional belief connects to a quote from Maya Angelou,

"A bird doesn't sing because it has an answer, it sings because it has a song."

I truly believe I have a song to sing for gifted learners, who are such a unique population. My passion for advocating for gifted learners is evident in my current work and I look forward to continuing my development as a leader in gifted education. My potential is like a young composer who is working diligently away on a masterpiece, constantly finessing the piece of music, always looking for the right transition, and the right tempo so it will to be ready when the opportunity comes knocking to be played by the Denver Philharmonic Orchestra.

"Life isn’t about finding yourself. Life is about creating yourself."

    - George Bernard Shaw

  • Biography

  •

  • If I were a superhero I would be a combination of four different superheroes.

  • Bat girl

I love that Batgirl is just an ordinary career woman with a doctorate in library science who through bravery, courage, and cool gadgets can do extraordinary things.   She fights for justice and stands up for those who can’t speak or stand up for themselves. Just as I stand up and advocate for gifted learners needs.  She has the ability to read human body language instead of developing verbal and written communication skills which I believe I possess this trait too.

  • Athena

When most people think about the goddess of Athena the first thing that pops into one’s head is the goddess of warfare but I want to uplift the other important and sometimes forgotten strengths that she possesses: wisdom, courage, inspiration, law and justice, mathematics, strength, strategy, the arts, and crafts.  Quite appealing and remarkable powers to possess to aid in fighting for one’s important cause.

  • Hermione Granger

Well first off who wouldn’t want to be a witch?  To be able to cast spells, mix potions, and travel through time with a time turner are all incredible strengths.  She is witty, level-headed, book-smart and uses her knowledge to solve problems.  All powers that allure me to her personality.     She is highly loyal to friends and looks out for everyone’s best interests.  Her weakness is the fear of failure.

  • The Bionic Woman

I have to give my name sake some praise too.  My sisters are 9 and 11 years older than me and were given the “honor” of naming the NEW baby (me).  Of course in 1976 the most popular show was The Bionic Woman.  The top two names my sisters picked were: Jamie Sommers (Bionic woman character’s name) or Lindsey Wagner (Bionic woman actress). Her bionic strengths are amplified hearing in her right ear, strengthened right arm, and able to run at speeds exceeding 60 miles per hour.   I am definitely not a runner like the Bionic Woman but I do feel that my sensitivity to light and sound are a similar trait that we share.
