I began working for DU in March of 1998 in the Office of Student Financial Services. I moved over to the Office of Financial Aid in December 2000.
While working full-time I attended DU's law school at night (at the old campus, on Montview and Quebec). It was an incredibly rewarding experience to be able to work while attending law school and I count it among my highest achievements.
During the summer semester after my first year of law school, I had saved up enough vacation time to take a month off to study comparative law through Tulane University in Paris, France. It was another wonderful experience and I was able to graduate a semester early as a result.
I graduated law school in December 2002 and passed the bar the following February. I took my time finding the right job since my time in law school went much more quickly than I had anticipated!
I left DU in January 2004 and began as an associate in a small general practice firm in downtown Denver. I practiced in a variety of areas, mostly estate planning and administration and small business planning.
After five years, one of the firm's two partners was retiring and the firm was dissolved. In searching for my next job, I couldn't help but remember my time working at DU fondly. So, I looked at the jobs posted at DU at the time and found my current one, as Program Manager for the Strategic Issues Program. I am now the Associate Director and oversee all of our program's functions, including panel meetings and outreach opportunities.
Our current panel is studying the Future of Higher Education. The panel report should be issued sometime this summer.
