  • Young Composers Playground

  • In the summer of 2010 I was invited to the Bravo! Vail Valley Music Festival as a teaching artist to learn an education program called the Very Young Composers. This program, created by New York Philharmonic bassist and composer Jon Deak, has been successfully implemented in the New York City Public Schools, in Korea, Finland and South America.

    As a teaching artist I was shown how to implement the program, train new teaching artists, and modify the program as needed. I was also given charge to spread the program to as many schools and organizations as possible. I have now successfully run Young Composers and trained teaching artists at:

    • Very Young Composers of Vail
    • Denver School of the Arts (DPS)
    • Venture Prep Charter (DPS)
    • Bradley International (DPS)
    • Edgewater Elementary (Jeffco)
    • Academy for Lifelong Learning (a continuing education program for seniors)
