    Bin Ramke teaches literature and creative writing in the English and Literary Arts Department. During his childhood in the south he intended to become a mathematician, and then a sculptor, but after majoring in English at LSU he eventually received a Ph.D. in modern literature from Ohio University. He taught in Columbus, Georgia prior to arriving at the University of Denver in 1985. For seventeen years he edited the Denver Quarterly, and for twenty years he edited a poetry series for he University of Georgia Press. He sometimes teaches part of the year at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. His first book won the Yale Younger Poets Award, and he has since published thirteen  more books of poems, most recently Earth on Earth (Omnidawn, 2021). Ramke holds  the Phipps Chair in literature, and is a Distinguished Professor.
