The Institute for Human-Animal Connection (IHAC) at the University of Denver Graduate School of Social Work is pleased to announce our 2nd Biennial Practitioners Conference, Animals on the Mind, exploring the social neurobiology of human-animal interactions in research and practice, at University of Denver on May 12-13, 2016.
This conference will center on the applications and research of animal-assisted interventions specific to social neuroscience in areas such as: Autism Spectrum Disorders, mental health treatment and variants of exposure to animals across the lifespan.
Check back often as we continue to update conference details on this website!
Philip Tedeschi takes the stage in 2014.
5/6/16: Registration is now closed, as we have reached capacity! Thank you for your support!
In the spirit of our field, we welcome service animals, therapy dogs and therapy dogs-in-training at the conference when they are accompanied by handlers who actively maintain attention to the welfare of their animal partner. Davis Auditorium is a stage and stadium seating style, large venue that will be very full with conference attendees. Please keep in mind that the conference days will be long for all of us and that your dog's needs may take you outside of the conference at times. Whole Foods Market and KONG will have an outdoor dog area with water, treats and toys available. While service and therapy dogs are welcome to attend, please be courteous of other dog’s and handler’s space as there may be many teams moving around this busy event. All dogs must remain on a leash at all times while on campus.
