I am a sociologist interested in the intersection of social movements, political sociology, law, and the criminal justice system. Much of my work examines this intersection using the case of firearms and firearm laws in the United States. I have also conducted research that explores these topics using the cases of police militarization and state spending on social control efforts such as incarceration, police, and social welfare.  

The purpose of this website is to provide more information about my research and my teaching. I have also posted data files here that people contact me about from time to time.
