    Joi (she/her/hers) is a 4th-year PhD student, passionate about supporting the personal and career development and well-being of gifted learners and the professionals who support us including teachers, managers, and mental and health professionals. She works at the Gifted Development Center as the Director of Professional Education and at the University of Denver as a Graduate Assistant and Adjunct Professor.

    • Grant Application as PI. Proposed Project GRO (Gifted Rural Opportunities: Professional learning for rural school psychologists in equitable identification of giftedness, talents, and twice-exceptionality; Co-PIs Vacante Goodwin and Hafenstein) to the Esther Katz Rosen Fund Grant by the American Psychological Foundation. 2020.
    • Center for Rural School Health and Education, AIM-XL Facilitator for the Working to Improve School Health Grant. Facilitated the creation of Comprehensive Health and Wellness Plans with southeastern rural Colorado school districts. 2018-2019.
    • Colorado Education Association’s Summer Leadership Conference. Wrote a grant securing funding from the Colorado Education Association for non-profit leaders to attend a conference. 2016.
    • National Education Association’s Wyoming-Colorado Organizing Institute. Served on the steering committee, helped design the grant and rubric with funding from the National Education Association, reviewed grants, and managed the event. 2016.
    • Colorado Education Association’s Theory into Practice. Helped inform and write the budget to secure a grant from the Gates Foundation to hold a series of state-wide professional development training for educators and administrators; managed financial reporting.
