  • Mutual Aid Fellowship: Seeking MSW Students with a Passion for Social Justice

Applications are now open for the 2022-23 Mutual Aid Fellowship. The cohorted fellowship includes a $5000 stipend and allows students to gain field hours through participation in a weekly field seminar plus agency based placement. For more information, please register for the information session on February 17 at 11am MST. This session will be recorded for those who cannot attend live.

The weekly seminar is designed to help students understand the concepts, history and political foundations of mutual aid, and learn about mutual aid in action in the community. The seminar will continue through the duration of the internship (Fall/Winter/Spring) and will also serve as group supervision for all students in the fellowship

Students will begin the agency based portion of their internship towards the end of fall quarter and continue throughout winter and spring quarters, in order to enact mutual aid within the community. Students will have the opportunity to rotate through all of the fellowship placement sites to gain exposure to various agency settings, and then will be matched with one of the placements for the duration of the internship. Community partners include Lifespan Local, Angelica Village and Mutual Aid Mondays. Sample learning projects may include things like developing and managing supply distribution, coordinating skills exchanges and managing food justice networks. Skills gained will include community engagement and assessment skills, program development and implementation, evaluation, facilitation and community organizing. Students will be confirmed into specific placements in late Fall quarter.

This is a competitive program with 6 fellowship slots available. Denver-campus Advanced Standing and Concentration Year students are eligible for this fellowship. Applications are open now, with a priority deadline of February 28, 2022. Interviews will be held in mid-March 2022, and if spots remain, another round of interviews will be held in late April 2022.

    Apply here by February 28.

Register for the Info Session on February 17 at 11am MST. Registrants will also receive a recording of the session if they are not able to attend live.

Reach out to Trish Becker with any questions about the program.
