  • What stories can we tell? What stories can’t we tell? What stories aren’t being told? Using an inquiry driven approach to research and writing, students in sections of WRIT 1733 conducted original research in DU’s Special Collections and Archives, examining texts and artifacts that shed light on the stories--told and untold--that make up the historical record.

    The results of their research--the digital exhibits curated here--tell a range of stories: from histories of college life to real-life struggles of marginalized communities, from health trends in cookbooks to abstractions in artist books, from observations of the heavens to explorations of the mountains.

    Students generated individual research projects and set their own research agendas through secondary source material and archival resources in DU’s Special Collections and Archives. Students were encouraged to pursue their own interests--to tell the stories that interested them.

    In addition to the full research projects showcased in these digital exhibits, students also created physical exhibits that represent a focal point of each individual project. The physical exhibits, located on the third floor of the Anderson Academic Commons, are a distillation of the larger conversations that students entered through their work.
