      For over four decades, Professor Emeritus Ricardo Iznaola has distinguished himself as performing and recording artist, composer, teacher and author. Appointed to the faculty in 1983, he served as Chair of the Guitar and Harp Department, Director of the Conservatory Division, and Artist-in-Residence at the university's Lamont School of Music, before his retirement in 2015. Professor Iznaola is the winner of ten international awards as performer and composer, has released 17 recordings, published 4 books, and contributed numerous articles, papers, lectures and Masterclasses for publications and institutions in the US, Europe and Latin-America. An American citizen, he was born in Havana, Cuba, and lived in Colombia, Venezuela and Spain, before moving to the States in 1980. Professor Iznaola is the 1990 Lamont Outstanding Faculty-Artist and the 1994 University Lecturer. In 2004 he was awarded the Distinguished University Professorship, the highest distinction bestowed by the University on the faculty.
