  • What is Respondus?

  • The University of Denver has licensed two tools from Respondus, Inc. to help instructors deliver their exams in Canvas. The Respondus Lockdown Browser provides an extra layer of security for online exams. Respondus authoring software allows instructors to import specially-formatted Microsoft Word or Rich Text files into the LMS and automatically create online exams. In order to view all of the content on this page, please log in to DU Portfolio, since some of the resources are restricted to DU students and faculty.

  • Respondus LockDown Browser is a custom browser that locks down the testing environment within Canvas or Blackboard. Students are locked into the assessment and are unable to print, copy, go to another URL, or access other applications.

  • The University of Denver has a site license for Respondus which is a 3rd party tool for creating and managing exams that can be published directly to Canvas. In order to access Respondus, please log in to Portfolio and you will see the instructions for downloading and installing the application below.
