Dr. Linda G. Olson was appointed as interim dean of Colorado Women’s College in May 2015. In addition, she continues her role as Executive Director of the Learning Communities and Civic Engagement department for the University of Denver, which includes five Living and Learning Communities, and the Pioneer Leadership Program.
Dr. Linda Olson began teaching at the University of Denver in 2000 and has spent the past 12 years as Senior Lecturer and Director of the Pioneer Leadership Program. Her area of communication research has included collaborative leadership, group and team communication, leadership development, leadership and sustainability, and leadership ethics. Currently Linda is focused on assessment of leadership learning and the leadership development process of undergraduate students. She brings a vibrant interest in international and intercultural issues to the classroom. Prior to Linda’s work at DU, she spent 20 years as an intercultural training specialist for non-profits. She taught and led groups involved in international service learning, taking her to numerous countries or regions including South Africa, Kenya, Central America, China, Russia, and Ukraine. In addition, she is active in local elected leadership as the Mayor Pro Tem of the City of Englewood, Colorado.
Linda received a PhD in Human Communication from the University of Denver. She earned a BA in psychology and MEd in Recreation and Parks Administration with a focus in Therapeutic Recreation from the University of Minnesota.
Personal life: Transplants from Minnesota, Linda and her husband have lived in Englewood for over 27 years. Their two adult sons are University of Denver graduates, and their daughter will graduate from the University of Southern California in 2016. Linda enjoys traveling, camping, reading, entertaining, sewing, and listening to all kinds of music.
