Melissa Tedrowe grew up in the Chicago area, then went on to earn her B.A. from Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts, her M.A. from the University of Vermont in Burlington, Vermont, and her Ph.D. from the University of Illinois in Urbana, Illinois (all degrees in English, focusing on literary and writing studies). Before coming to the University of Denver, she taught writing and rhetoric at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and the University of Colorado-Boulder. Her scholarly interests include rhetorical theory and history, university-community partnerships, and activist rhetorics, particular as they converge in movements for social justice, environmental protection and sustainability, and animal rights.
