Recognizing Curriculum and Instruction Students
2021-2022
Rachel Lim
Rachel Lim is an academic advisor at DU who is pursuing the EdD in Curriculum and Instruction.
In May 2021, Rachel received the DU College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences (CAHSS) Staff Award in recognition of her service as academic advisor at the Lamont School of Music during the 2020-2021 academic year. Rachel advised approximately 280 undergraduate and graduate students pursuing a major or minor in Music. She also was a staff representative on diversity, equity, and inclusion committees for both Lamont and the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences, and she was a mentor in the CAHSS First-Gen Mentorship Program. In August 2021, Rachel joined the team in DU's Office of Academic Advising, where she supports undergraduate students as they explore the ways a liberal arts education can further their academic, personal, and professional goals.
2020-2021
Teri Hutchinson
Teri is a second year EdD student in the C&I program looking to further the educational and wellness goals of her Newcomer students and their families in the North Denver area.
As part of a panel of faculty and students from the Morgridge College of Education, Teri presented at a CPED convening around the topic of the Dissertation in Practice: Developing Scholarly Practitioners as Leaders and Change Agents. The national audience for this conference had a vested interest in examining different models of dissertation coursework and purposes. The University of Denver is an innovative leader in the area of making doctoral research practical and useful in the field. Teri and her colleagues Zion Gezaw and Dr. Kimberly Schmidt demonstrated how their scholarship does and will promote dialogue about the ways EdD programmatic structures integrate and promote work that is focused on Social Justice and inequities that are inclusive of diverse perspectives.
Ekta Ghosh
Ekta is a second year Ph.D. student, her research interest is in the field of special education and she aspires to be an early interventionist. She recently presented at the Division for Early Childhood (DEC) conference and will be presenting for the Council of Exceptional children (CEC) in the month of March. Further on, her research proposal titled "Problem of Practice:A consultancy protocol" has also been accepted for the AERA annual meeting to be held in April. Recently she has contributed in writing for a book chapter along with Dr. Rashida Banerjee and Dr. Kim Schmidt for an international journal.
Kristopher Tetzlaff
Kristopher is a first-year Ph.D. student in Curriculum and Instruction, Adjunct Instructor of French with the Department of Languages, Literatures & Cultures, and Advisory Board member of You be You Early Learning. On behalf of You be You Early Learning (YbY), Kristopher is a proud recipient of a $12,338 grant from the Rocky Mountain Farmer's Union (RMFU). YbY is a non-profit, mobile preschool rooted in sustainability and inclusive excellence. In partnership with the Community College of Aurora Centretech campus, YbY proposes equitable and affordable, STEAM-based programming to young innovators of under-resourced communities. Thanks, in part, to the generous grant from RMFU, YbY is collaborating closely with Miller Farmer Law to establish Colorado's first teacher-led cooperative. Paul Viskanta
Paul is a 3rd year C&I student in the Ed.D. program. His research is focusing on secondary writing, especially personal narrative. He is also completing the programs Gifted and Talented specialization. Paul Viskanta was invited by Dr. Paul Michalec to co-author a book review for the book Hitting Pause by Gail Taylor Rice. The text provides resources for university lecturers looking to implement strategies which support optimal cognitive functioning for their classes.

Joi Lin
Joi is a first-year Ed.D. student specializing in gifted education leadership. At the 2019 Gifted Education Conference, Joi was selected to be one of the James Webb Influential Scholars. At the same conference, Joi also presented a poster on Fostering Career Success and Satisfaction for Gifted and Talented Students.
