Hello and Welcome
-
I am an Evaluation Consultant and Assistant Professor of Evaluation and Mixed Methods Research for the Research Methods and Statistics program within the Research Methods and Information Science (RMIS) Department of the Morgridge College of Education at the University of Denver.
I research how and why people become evaluators, including a focus on outcomes assessment, organizational learning, and the use of evaluation to support classroom learning. In this context, I research evaluation as a power structure by exploring the ways it affects people/situations with an overall focus on culturally responsive and reflexive practices. I currently teach graduate-level courses in research methods and evaluation, including many service-learning courses, and offer a student interest group, collaboratory hub serving the community, and an annual conference for local evaluation students/practitioners.
Prior to completing my doctoral studies, I taught high school science in Hawai'i and Colorado and worked as a clinical science training coordinator for a medical school in Virginia. I conducted biomedical research at the University of Alabama, earned my Master of Education in Teaching with a specialization in Secondary Science from the University of Hawai'i at Manoa, and completed my PhD in Educational Research Methodology, with concentrations in both evaluation and measurement/quan methods, at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
Outside of my professional work, I spend my time mothering, hiking, biking, camping, skiing, and practicing meditation and yoga.
