Hello and Welcome
I am a Assistant Professor of Evaluation and Mixed Methods Research for the Research Methods and Statistics program within the Research Methods and Information Science (RMIS) Department of the Morgridge College of Education at the University of Denver.
Prior to completing my doctoral studies, I taught high school science in Hawai'i and Colorado and worked as a clinical science coordinator for a medical education training program in Virginia. I obtained my BS in Biology from the University of Alabama, my Master of Education in Teaching with a specialization in Secondary Science from the University of Hawai'i at Manoa, and my PhD in Educational Research Methodology, with a concentration in evaluation, at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
I research how and why people become evaluators, including a focus on outcomes assessment, organizational learning, and the use of evaluation to support classroom learning. In this context, I research evaluation as a power structure by exploring the ways it affects people/situations with an overall focus on culturally responsive and reflexive practices. I currently teach graduate-level courses in research methods and evaluation, including many service learning courses, and offer a student interest group, collaboratory hub serving the community, and an annual conference for local evaluation students/practitioners.
Outside of the classroom, I spend my time hiking, biking, camping, skiing, and practicing yoga.
Evaluating Better Together | September 27-28, 2018
The first meeting of this hopefully annual conference took place in September 2018. Evaluating Better Together is a graduate student-led gathering intended to connect students with evaluation experts in the Denver Metro Area. By hosting this event, we seek to foster authentic relationships between current and future evaluation practitioners through a series of sessions fostering dialogue, networking, and mentoring. Learn more about the 2018 conference through our event website!
We intend to host the 2019 meeting in the fall with proposal submissions in summer 2019. To stay tuned for more information, consider signing up for conference updates on the event website.
