GSSW has offered long-standing community-based international courses which have all been on hold for the past two years due to Covid. We are happy to announce that the courses will be offered again this year (2023) either in the spring/summer or fall/winter interterm. See below for details and faculty contact information to learn more about each course. Disclaimer: All planning is dependent on international security risks as well as DU’s current COVID protocols and are subject to change based on university risk assessments and/or COVID protocol changes.
GSSW offers the opportunity to participate in internationally-focused courses and experiences which include academic work followed by an in-country experience. All of the international courses are 3-credits and fulfill the Values for Practice course requirement for all Concentrations. They can also be used as an elective. Students register for the course during the quarter in which the academic classes are held.
For general information contact Ann.Petrila@du.edu. If you want advising guidance or have other questions, you can join Denver Campus virtual office hours Tuesdays 11-12 pm.
Important Information:
All students: You must take the travel course in order to engage in the associated travel opportunity. If you were planning to finish degree requirements prior to your term of travel, please be aware your degree will not be finalized until after the trip is complete. In addition to the course tuition, there is a separate course fee attached to each course. Information about this course fee and other anticipated out-of-pocket expenses will be provided by the lead faculty for the course. All students must meet the University of Denver COVID Protocols in order to access campus for the courses and for travel, including full vaccination.
MSW@Denver, Western Colorado, and Durango students: Because the courses are based in the Denver campus program, you would apply as a Visiting Student at least 6 weeks prior to the term in which the course is held in order to request to take the course. Approval is based on seat availability in the course. Courses will have a virtual attendance option available to students.
