73% of DU undergrad students study abroad, and you could be one of them! Studying abroad can be a really fun and rewarding experience, but the path to getting there can be confusing and overwhelming, especially when you are already worried about everything that comes from transferring. The first thing you will need to be aware of and the most important part are the Deadlines. First steps is when you can find out when the mandatory first steps meetings are and what you need to be working on. Once you understand the study abroad process and have an idea of where you want to study abroad, you can make an appointment with one of the Study Abroad Advisors. From there they will help you with applying to programs and making sure you have everything you need. You also must take a Required Study Abroad Course in the winter or spring quarter. Another important factor to consider in the financial aspect that comes with studying abroad. DU offers the Cherrington Global Scholars grant and also a lot of program specific Scholarships that you can apply for. Some of the programs are DU partner programs which does allow you to use your Financial Aid. Even with different opportunities, there is still some budgeting that must be done, because not everything will be included, in order to understand the total Cost for your study abroad experience.
